Spring is here and so are the Flowers

It’s the beginning of May and that’s means its spring time and flowers and plants are everywhere. Idaho can experience a lot of rain before or during spring but it’s worth it when we get to see plants and flowers growing. There are several nurseries that sell these plants and flowers, but only sell them for a short time. Flowers and plants brighten up people’s day and put a smile on their face. Spring only lasts for a short time, but it’s a sweet season that brings joy.

Gardening is an activity that a lot of people enjoy doing and it can be a stress reliever. People like to plant flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Popular flowers that are grown in gardens are garden roses, daisies, peonies, carnations, tulips, and more. Every flower and plant have different growing seasons and determine on different weather conditions to grow. Some flowers only last for a short season such as peonies because they are harder to grow during all seasons. Roses are usually grown year round because they are a popular flower. People also like to grow herbs and vegetables because they can be that they are grown organically in their gardens. Herbs are great to add flavor to food and vegetables can be added to any meal or as a side dish. People take the time to grow their plants and find it rewarding when their vegetables grow and makes eating their herbs and vegetables more fun to eat. Gardening takes time but when the flowers, plants, herbs, and vegetables grow it’s worth it and gets people outside.

There are several plant nurseries that sell a wide variety of flowers and plants.There is a flower nursery located in Hayden, called Judy’s and they carry a wide variety of flowers and plants. In Coeur d’Alene, there is also a flower nursery called Vanhoff’s. This flower and plant nursery has amazing hanging flowers that grow big and are beautiful. Hanging plants and flowers are popular and are great for decoration or giving them as gifts. Plant nurseries only last for a short time because there is a limited amount of flowers and plants because of growing seasons for plants. They also sell out quickly because customers get excited that it’s spring and want to start planting or working on their gardens. It’s smart to buy flowers and plants early because they sell out fast and nurseries are open for a short amount of time.

Gardening and taking care of the nature around us is a great thing for the community to do and is great for keeping nature healthy and pretty. NICS are doing block classes for the month of May and some of those block classes include ministry credits that have to do with yardwork and helping take care of a community garden. It’s great that students have an opportunity to take care of the nature that’s around them and also enjoy doing it at the same time. All students and families should consider having a garden or simply taking care of their yards to continue making Idaho look beautiful.
